I’m Karen Hartley, the founder of The College Compass and a mother of four sons with ADHD and learning differences.
Through guiding my own children, I saw firsthand how overwhelming the transition to college can be—missed deadlines, unreturned emails, and the challenge of staying organized while managing new independence. I realized that what many students need most isn’t more content knowledge, but structure, accountability, and a clear plan to succeed.
Professionally, I’ve spent years working in education as a college admissions advisor, educator and business women. I combine that experience with the insight of a parent who has walked this road myself. My approach is both practical and compassionate, giving students the tools to take control of their studies while giving families peace of mind.
